Gardening help

April is upon us and that means Spring. Although the weather is trying its best to put a damper on things! However, it is a great time to visit a local garden centre. Not only is there plenty on display to brighten your garden, but most also have indoor shopping, a café and restaurant facilities. We know that many of our senior clients enjoy a trip out like this and it can be a lovely way to fill a two or three hour visit. At Seniors Helping Seniors, a key aim of ours is to maintain your independence at home, but it is also to get you out of the home and enjoy the things that you used to do.

Here is a selection of garden centres across the Solihull & Warwick area that make for a nice trip out..

Solihull Garden Centres

1.     Melbicks Garden Centre

Although not quite Solihull and on the way to Coleshill, Melbicks offers a wide range of plants, gardening supplies, tools, outdoor furniture and home decorations. They also have a café on-site for refreshments. Not only that, their food section is extensive, including a quality butchers.

2.   Earlswood Garden & Landscape Centre

3.   Notcutts Garden Centre – Solihull

Notcutts is a well known chain of garden centres in the UK. It stocks pretty much everything you need from gardening supplies, furniture, a pet shop and also a home & gift selection. There is also a restaurant which often runs special offers. This garden centre is also situated with easy access to other local shops in Solihull and Knowle to really make a full morning or afternoon of it.

4.  Hillier Garden Centre – Hampton in Arden

This garden centre is located closest to our office in between Balsall Common and Hampton in Arden. It is a smaller garden centre, but still stocks pretty much everything you need. Whether it is to browse the plants, have a look around the home & gift section or have coffee & cake in their café, we know a number of our clients love coming here for an hour or two to break up the week.

Warwick Garden Centres

1.     Hinton’s Plant & Nursery Centre

On the way into Warwick from the north, Hinton’s a great place to pick up some plants for your garden. You can also combine it with a visit to Guy’s Cliffe Walled Garden, just behind the nursery. Check the opening times if you intend on doing that.

2.   Hatton Country World

While primarily a family attraction with farm animals and kids play area, Hatton Country World also has a garden center, local independent shops and on-site catering. It is in a lovely part of the world, with nice local walks nearby.

3.   Smith’s Garden Centre

On the outskirts of Coventry, but still within easy reach, Smith’s is another stand out local garden centre. Extensive supplies to look around and the cosy Granny Smith’s Café for a cuppa.
